31 days wine free: What I hate about drinking

I just notice the date, did some counting and realised that yesterday marked 30 days sober for me.

HURRAY!

This isn’t the longest I’ve gone without drinking, but I’m still pretty proud of myself.

I’ve decided to celebrate by making a list of the things I hate about drinking. Maybe it’ll help me if I start to question whether I really was ‘that bad’. Which I will.

Here goes:
1. I hate the way you tricked me into believing I need you to have fun.
2. I hate the way you took away my self control.
3. I hate the way you took away my filter and allowed me to say embarrassing things.
4. I hate the way you took parts of my memory.
5. I hate the way you took my money, and my time.
6. I hate the way you took away my self respect, and how you threatened my reputation.
7. I hate the way you put me in danger.
8. I hate the way you allowed me to compromise my relationships.
9. I hate the way you made me unreliable, untrustworthy and selfish.
10. I hate the way you took away my motivation and drive.
11. I hate the way you always allowed anxiety and sadness enter as you left.
12. I hate the way you made me question my self-worth.
13. I hate the way I had to cover for you.
14. I hate the way you exhausted my body.
15. I hate the way you made me nauseous.
16. I hate the way you stole my time and all my energy only to trick me into believing that you would make me feel better.
17. I hate the way you made my body want to only eat rubbish.
18. I hate the way you made me look tired.
19. I hate the way you made me avoid the people we hung out with.
20. I hate how you fooled me for so long.
21. I hate that you’re only a liquid, and I hate that a liquid could make me hate myself.

Phew. That helped.

Definitely won’t be drinking today.
